Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Tianfu Square, an IHG Hotel – Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li Overview

First Impressions

Pulling up to the Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Tianfu Square, an IHG Hotel – Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li, you immediately get the sense that whoever picked this location knew exactly what they were doing. It sits right in the thick of Qingyang District, which honestly puts you within easy reach of some of Chengdu’s most recognizable landmarks and shopping streets. The building itself is clean and modern — nothing flashy, but that’s sort of the point with this brand. You’re here to explore the city, and the hotel quietly sets you up to do exactly that.

Location & Neighborhood

I mean, the location score of 9.0 isn’t just a number — you feel it the moment you step outside. Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li are practically on your doorstep, which means great food, street life, and some serious people-watching are never more than a short walk away. Couples especially seem to love it here — the rating from two-person trips sits at 8.9, and you can see why. There’s something genuinely romantic about wandering Chengdu’s lit-up streets at night and then having a comfortable, well-placed base to come back to.

The Rooms

As a four-star hotel, the rooms hit the right balance between comfort and practicality. They’re well put together — tidy, properly air-conditioned (which matters a lot in Chengdu’s humid summers), and quiet enough that the city buzz doesn’t follow you in. Nothing over-engineered, but everything you actually need is there. It’s the kind of room where you sleep well, which, after a full day of exploring, is really what counts.

Breakfast

The breakfast spread here is honestly one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve come across at this price point. It runs as a full buffet, and the range is genuinely impressive — you’ve got Continental, American, Asian, Full English, and options for vegetarian, vegan, halal, and kosher diets too. So whether you’re craving congee or a proper cooked breakfast before heading out to see the pandas, you’re covered. There’s even a grab-and-go option if you’re the type who’d rather hit the ground running. That kind of flexibility makes a real difference when you’re traveling with people who all want something different.

Why Guests Love It

The overall rating of 8.7 tells a pretty consistent story — guests leave happy, and it’s not hard to understand why. Free parking is available on-site, which is a genuine bonus if you’re renting a car or arriving with luggage and don’t want the hassle of street parking in a busy Chinese city. The hotel doesn’t try to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does well — reliable service, a smart location, and a breakfast that actually fuels your day. If you’re planning a trip to Chengdu and want to stay somewhere central without overthinking it, this one’s a solid call.
